CASE STUDY outline

Special Effects Makeup/ Prosthetics.

I. Introduction:
Special Effects Makeup and Prosthetics are used in Movies to make the Film more realistic/ believable.

II. Body:
    • History/ Background information :
  • - MAKEUP: First invented by Egyptians
  • - MAKEUP IN FILMS: Blk & White films. Started with Max Factor in 1914.
- SPECIAL EFFECTS: First artist was Jack Pierce. Vampire: Bela Lugosi.

The Types Of Makeup:
- COSMETIC: Make up (not prosthetic). Corrective makeup.
- EYE: Contact Lens, Glasses and Eyelash.
- SKIN: Burn, Scars, Fat, and excess skin.
- PROSTHETIC: Nose, Ears, Faces, and Bodies.
- ACCESSORIES: Hair, Nails, Wings (also with Prosthetics)

Process:
- MATERIALS: Latex, Rubber, Paint, etc.
- BEFORE PROSTHETICS: Mold of the Actors face/body
- SCULPTING: Sculpting afterwards. Making something out of the mold.
- APPLYING: Putting the finished mask onto actor. Write how much time it takes.
- TOUCHUP: After applying the prosthetic piece. Add details such as hair.
- FINISHED PIECE.

III. CONCLUSION:
Summarization of the body. Explain the purpose of sfx makeup and prosthetics.
